  1. Reboot
    hit the F8 key
    go into safe mode
    download install update malwarebytes

    let it run a scan
    see if the report says it cleaned everything

    Run your antivirus and let it do a scan

    restart back to normal mode

    see if everything is ok
    if it isn’t post the name of the bug on a new post from the malwarebytes log and that you did safe mode scan. we can help

  2. any anit-virus that you get can remove them but when you buy on make sure it has a firewall to stop those from reinfecting your computer every-time you go on the internet.

  3. boot into safe mode, without networking or command prompt, hold shift at startup, and then run the antivirus, you may need to manually find and delete the files, but the time it takes to do that is less than it takes to reformat the drive

  4. I am using Microsoft Security Essentials and it seems to work ok. You will have to uninstall your current anti-virus software if you want to download it. You may want to check your firewall to.

  5. For your anti-adware and anti-spyware and anti-trojan needs:
    SUPERAntiSpyware:
    http://www.superantispyware.com/

    They have a free version and it’s excellent.

    Download and install SUPER, update it, do a full system scan and quarantine what it finds.

    Then do a quick scan with SUPER on a regular basis.

  6. AVG has a free version which will protect your computer when you surf. Just search for ‘AVG’ in Google.

    I might also recommend the website ‘WOT’, which stands for ‘Web of Trust’. This piece of software kit provides an icon in the top right hand corner of your web browser, and also to the side of hyperlinks provided in search engines such as Google or Yahoo. These icons show you how trustable the sight you are on is (shown by the one in the top right hand corner); and the one which a hyperlink will take you to, using a colour system:

    Green = good
    Amber = A bit iffy
    Red = Don’t do it!

    It is so simple to use, as all you have to do is put your cursor over the icon, and it will tell you why the website isn’t trusted or otherwise.

    Another you might consider is Norton Antivirus, but this is an annoying one, as it keeps having pop-ups. Kaspersky are renowned for there protection, but I can’t vouch for it as I have only ever used it once.

    If you want full versions of protective software, be prepared to pay. WOT is free, but the others I mentioned are not. I got my professional version of AVG through fileshare (Ahem; Pirate Bay), but I can totally understand if you don’t want to go down that route.

    Good luck!
