Can you transfer a computer virus to a USB Flash Drive?

So my computer had a virus but I managed to download Malwarebytes on it and now my computer is working. I do the malwarebytes update every day and McAfee scans my computer, and no viruses are detected.
My question is how do you know if the virus is completely gone……also I have all my pictures on there and I want to transfer them to a USB Flash Drive, but can you transfer a virus to it?
