My laptop is an XP and it has some kind of virus, I think a Trojan. I can’t run it for more than 3 or 4 minutes before the screen goes blue saying my computer has to be shut down to prevent damage. When I DO use it, it runs really slowly and most of my software won’t start.
I’ve been using Ubuntu (I have both installed on my laptop) but I really need my XP fixed. Any help/advice would be really appreciated.
What are the best ways to avoid getting a computer virus????

My stepdad got one on his computer a few hours ago from clicking on a website he thought was real, but ended up being an imitation of a legitimate webpage. My question is- How do i know before clicking when something is potentially harmful? Are there ever warning signs?
I’ve got norton antivirus, but it’s expired, although it still protects me partially? And spysweeper. Is that good, or do i need more anti-virus software?
Should I really worry about getting a computer virus?

I personally think the hype of computer virii and all this virus scan protection crap is mostly fraudulent.
I mean I don’t download crap with P2P software, I only talk to friends on Yahoo Messanger, I usually only go to sites I’ve known and trust, and I play World of Warcraft.
Overall I want to know is a virus scan worthless overall than it is useful? I mean the only files my scan detects are a couple tracking cookies.
